Microsoft announced in a post on the company's website that it will provide interested parties with a new Linux on Azure certification! The move came after the company collaborated with the Linux Foundation, a non-profit organization.
According to Jim Zemlin, Executive Director of the Linux Foundation, the partnership between Microsoft and the foundation has already proven successful, especially now that Microsoft has begun to open source several of its software, such as the .NET Framework, the Chakra JavaScript engine for Internet Explorer, and Visual Studio.
“The Linux Foundation and Microsoft also share a commitment to the systems administrators who run the world’s most critical, complex IT systems. Today’s SysAdmins should be familiar with both Windows and Linux. Professionals and their employers who invest in training and certification will benefit from this relationship,” said Jim Zemlin.
Over the past year, Microsoft has managed to create its own Linux-based operating system, which it uses in its Azure Cloud Switch (ACS), a cross-platform modular OS designed specifically for data centers, and continues a constructive partnership with big names in Linux, including Red Hat and SUSE.
However, both companies offer additional knowledge to system administrators, who now have access to new Linux and Microsoft Azure certifications, which require candidates to pass the Linux Foundation's Certified SysAdmin exam.
