Apple and Samsung return to court for second round this November

ChinaVsApplenApple and Samsung will clash again in court this November after Judge Lucy Koh ruled that a new trial will be held over the damages Samsung was ordered to pay Apple last August. The move comes after the judge decided to cut $405 million from the original $1.05 billion in damages awarded to Apple.

The reason for the high compensation was because 14 Samsung devices infringed Apple patents, with several of them infringing more than the others, which is why Judge Lucy Koh considered it fairer to deduct $405 million from the total amount, while requesting a new trial on November 12 to reexamine the case.

Earlier today, however, the judge awarded Apple $40 million in damages for an AT&T version of a Galaxy S II that was incorrectly calculated in the original ruling. Apple will be compensated for the damages Samsung has caused it since the day it was notified.

So, get ready because from November the game starts again.
