The student hacker, the mastermind behind various criminal activities that earned him profits of 15 million pounds and who had been imprisoned, managed to enter the prison system where he is being held!
Nicholas Webber, 21, was sentenced to five years in prison for running an illegal website, GhostMarket, which sold credit cards, not legitimate ones of course. He was just 17 when he started an “underground” forum that dealt in the trading of stolen credit card details. While in prison, he asked to attend classes in the IT class that operates for prisoners. Of course, his request was not accepted, but Professor Michael Fox insisted that they give him a chance. The chance was given to him, resulting in Professor Michael Fox losing his job after the incident, reports Dailymail.
Nicholas Webberwas caught hacking into the prison's computer systems during a class.
It is understandable that his actions caused panic among prison guards, as it is still unclear what he managed to gain access to.
A spokesman for the Prison Service confirmed that Webber had been involved in the incident but declined to answer questions about it.
He said: “During this incident in 2011 the educational computer system was at HMP Isis within a closed network. There was no way we could have had outside access to personal information or wider access to the internet.”
The incident came a year after the opening of a new £110 million prison designed to house young inmates aged between 18 and 24. As a new prison there are still several technological problems such as a problem with the biometric roll call system, a system that tracks inmates who leave an electronic fingerprint each time they move from one part of the prison to another.
