Microsoft claims that demand for the Surface with Windows 8 is “amazing ” as the company continues to promote its new product.
In the meantime, however, owners of the new tablets are reporting more and more problems, not only with the device's software, but also with the hardware that Microsoft.
There are reports of Surface Pro when running specific applications and mostly games, such as DOTA 2, CS: GO and Diablo II.
While the idle temperature is around 52 degrees Celsius, launching a game or a more complex application raises it to 74 degrees Celsius, according to some owners of the new tablet. This temperature makes it impossible to even hold the tablet, but also makes it hopelessly slow, to the point of being unusable.
“I have the same problem with mine. When it remains inactive the temperature reaches 53C-58C degrees and rises to over 70 with very little use. Playing a game results in it reaching 80C degrees after about 3 minutes. I tried Diablo III and it was impossible,” reports one of the tablet owners on the support forum.
While Microsoft has yet to make a public statement on the issue, Steven_B, a forum moderator and member of the Surface , explained that users reporting these issues may have received a defective device and suggested that they exchange it for a new one, noting that the Surface Pro is still sold out in most stores in the United States.
