Google's Sergey Brin: Smartphones are disempowering

At a recent TED conference, Google's Sergey Brin had the opportunity to speak to the audience. Sergey Brin is the one who leads the development team of the Google Glass project. During the conference, he wore Google's new gadget constantly and everywhere.

The freedom offered by Google Glassis based on the fact that its user does not need to hold a mobile phone and look at it constantly to see the time or anything else.

In fact, he called smartphones debilitating precisely because their users spend so much time looking at them.

“With your phone you are in social isolation,” he said during his speech. “You are sitting in front of a piece of glass and rubbing it.”

I think we can all agree that most people tend to focus too much on their phones. It's strange, but it doesn't seem as debilitating as having a computer strapped to our heads as an alternative. Of course, only those who have owned one can have an opinion on Google's new creation.
