There are only 45 days left for the largest technology conference in Greece. Developments and news about WordCamp Athens 2016 are running a few weeks before the conference opens its gates to the Greek public.

The Third Group of Speakers of #WCAth2016WordCamp Athens 2016

A few days after the application deadline, the WordCamp Athens 2016 organizing team is still in the process of selecting speakers. The task is anything but easy, as we received a large number of applications for many interesting topics.

Today we present to you our third group of speakers consisting of Giorgos Matthiopoulos, Dimitris Mitsis, Elias Tsaldaris and Panagiotis Vagenas.

George Matthiopoulos

George Matthiopoulos WordCamp Athens 2016George D. Matthiopoulos is a professor of applications at the Department of Graphic Design of the School of Graphic Arts and Artistic Studies of the Technical University of Athens. He is involved in the research and design of fonts, as well as in the history of typography and graphic art. He is a founding member and designer of the Society of Greek Typographic Elements and has written and translated numerous books and educational manuals. He has participated in many international conferences and workshops and has published articles in magazines in the field of Graphic Design. At the same time, he has been the artistic editor of many publications, exhibition catalogs, museum collections and conferences.

In his speech, he will describe the historical and aesthetic field of formation of the Greek and Latin alphabets, the technological production and application of letters, the parameters that guide the successful communication of the message and the production of a perfect and legible result through the correct selection and application of fonts.

Dimitris Mitsis

Dimitris Mitsis WordCamp Athens 2016Dimitris works on the WPML development team. His main focus is on testing, quality assurance (QA), and performance of WPML.

He will talk about the need for an automated testing environment, especially in a system like WordPress where updates are continuous. Through an introduction to the CodeCeption tool, he will show us how someone can create their first tests and how they benefit in the long term from their use.

Elias Tsaldaris

Elias Tsaldaris WordCamp Athens 2016Elias is a graduate of the Department of Applied Mathematics with a specialization in financial and business mathematics. He is a Google Partner in the fields of Google AdWords, YouTube Ads and Google Analytics. He is the founder and iCEO of Innovation Group, which is active in B2B services related to advertising, digital marketing and web design.

He will talk to us about SEM (Search Engine Marketing) and SEO (Search Engine Optimization) practices, about analysis methods and tools, and will give advice on how to improve one's online presence.

Panagiotis Vagenas

Panagiotis Vagenas WordCamp Athens 2016Panagiotis Vagenas is a graduate of the Hellenic Open University's School of Informatics with honors and a postgraduate student of the Department of Information Systems of the Athens University of Economics and Business with a focus on information and systems security. He has been active as a Web Developer since 2012, while for the last year he has been working as a Security Analyst in the Wordfence team. A fanatical supporter of the WordPress community, he has contributed to the development of dozens of plugins and the discovery and resolution of hundreds of security issues in plugins, themes or in the WordPress core.

The topic of his talk is the most common mistakes that plugin and theme authors make, which can create security gaps for the websites that use them. He will describe what they are, what causes them, and how they can be avoided.
