More and more people now have "smart" mobile phones. But how many of you use them wisely, so that their use does not prove harmful to your health?
For those of you who cannot give a clear answer, follow the 10 tips below to use your smartphone in moderation:
- When you want to calm down and not hear your phone ringing, it's a good idea to put it on "Do Not Disturb" rather than on silent mode with vibration.
- When you go out for a meal, coffee or drink and you are not expecting an urgent call, don't leave your cell phone on the table. It is better to keep it in your bag.
- If you really need to use your smartphone and you're out with friends, the right thing to do is apologize for your behavior, which could be considered indifferent and rude. That way, you'll finish your work faster and be able to have a deeper connection with your friends.
- Don't use your phone when you're bored. You look like a zombie or a junkie with your smartphone.
- Don't text while doing something else. For example, if you text while driving, you could cause and be involved in a serious accident.
- Remove the app that shows the sender and some of the content of the message on your phone screen before you even open it. Respect the privacy of messages.
- Ask permission to see other people's photos. Just because someone gives you their phone for a while doesn't mean you have the freedom to see their entire album.
- Stop recording everything. It's nice to capture moments to remember the important events in your life, but when you stop to take a picture of everything, you're not living in the moment, and the truly important moments lose their meaning.
- Turn your headphones down a bit. There's nothing more annoying and rude than, for example, someone on the subway listening to music on their smartphone so loudly that it disturbs three cars with the volume of the music. Moreover, it's terribly harmful to your hearing.
- Take short breaks from technology. Set a schedule, like two hours at lunchtime, or an entire weekend—why not?—where you turn off your cell phone and don't even use it to check your emails.
