AT&T, the American multinational telecommunications group, is facing a massive outage in the United States. The outage has made it difficult for AT&T users to make or receive calls with AT&T or any other network . Some subscribers have also reported problems with their internet connection. According to reports, AT&T services are currently down in California, Houston, Miami, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Dallas, Mountain View, New York and other parts of the United States.
The company has not issued any statement regarding the outage. The problem is widespread, causing frustration among AT&T subscribers who are taking to Facebook and Twitter to express their anger.
The AT&T outage problem is exacerbated by the fact that users are calling AT&T support lines and 611 is unable to proceed, due to the outage.
At this point, only local and long distance telephone services and mobile services appeared to be affected by this outage, while Broadband Internet services appear to be operating normally. However, some users appear to have experienced problems with Internet browsing.
For the uninitiated, AT&T offers local and long distance telephone service, broadband internet, and cellular phone service to individuals and businesses. AT&T has near-national wireless coverage. Internet and local telephone service are available in select areas and use DSL or Fiber (Uverse) technology.
The outage comes after a massive internet outage on October 21 caused by a DDoS attack on DNS provider Dyn. The DDoS attack took down the internet across the entire Western and Eastern United States, preventing users from connecting to websites like Twitter, Spotify, Reddit, etc.
The outage could also worry investors as AT&T and Time Warner merge to form one large telecommunications company.
We also expect new developments in the case, which seems to have taken on major dimensions.
